Dr. Reece Malone is an award-winning and internationally distinguished sexologist, holding a Masters in Public Health and a Doctorate in Human Sexuality. His advanced studies led to certification in sex therapy, along with being recognized as a certified sexuality educator and supervisor by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. Dr. Malone has achieved Diplomate status with the American Board of Sexologists, consistently demonstrating years of commitment to excellence, innovation, and thought-leadership in the field of human sexuality.
At the core of his therapeutic practice is a commitment to client inclusion and collaboration, fostering an environment where individuals and relationships are truly understood, valued, and respected.
A a sexologist, he is a speaker, trainer, author, editor and public health and education policy analyst. Dr. Malone has lent his expertise to prestigious organizations including The World Health Organization, The Pan American Health Organization, The Canadian Human Rights Commission, The Public Health Agency of Canada, The Alberta Children’s Hospital, and the District of Columbia Department of Health. A sought-after media source on contemporary sexuality issues, he has been featured on CBC National, CBC Radio, and Global National, and has contributed to esteemed publications such as Canadian School Counsellor, Family Therapy Magazine, Men’s Journal, and Women and Men Magazine. His insights have graced platforms like Dan Savage’s Savage Love, Chicago Reader, Health.com, Playboy Magazine, and TSN’s Intimately You.
Dr. Malone’s influence extends to academia, where he has served as either faculty or guest faculty for institutions including Antioch University Seattle Couples and Family Therapy Program, Widener University Center for Human Sexuality Studies, University of Guelph Couple and Family Therapy Program, and The University of Manitoba Faculties of Education, Nursing, Medicine and Departments of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Respiratory Therapy. He is currently an adjunct professor at the California Institute for Integral Studies teaching emerging sex therapists and educators interventions and clinical skills.
Dr. Malone is a co-founder of the Canadian Association of Sexuality Professionals (CASP), a national organization dedicated to advancing the field of sexuality education, therapy, and research in Canada. Through CASP, he works alongside other leaders in the field to strengthen professional standards, support credentialing and training, and promote ethical, evidence-informed practices that enhance sexual health and well-being across the country.
In collaboration with Mariotta Gary Smith, Marla Renee Stewart, and Dr. James Wadley, Dr. Malone lead and co-edited the groundbreaking work, An Intersectional Approach to Sex Therapy: Centering the Lives of Indigenous, Racialized, and People of Color published by Routledge Press (2023). His second book, Fundamental Concepts and Critical Developments in Sex Education: Intersectional and Trauma-Informed Approaches (2025, Routledge Press) co-edited with Dr. Tracie Gilbert, Dr. Catherine Dukes, and Justine Ang Fonte, MA, promises to be a seminal contribution to the field. It recently received the 2026 “Sex Ed Impact Award” by Planned Parenthood and The Center of Sex Education (Baltimore, Maryland).
Recognized for his commitment to patient engagement research, Dr. Malone, alongside research colleagues Dr. Robin Westmacott, Matt Francino Caron, and Holden Conner, has been honored with the George and Fay Yee Centre for Healthcare Innovation award. Additionally, he is a recipient of a Manitoba Medical Services Foundation grant for his work examining healthcare barriers and mental health outcomes experienced by gender-diverse Manitobans.
As a qualified expert in trans and non-binary adult health, Dr. Malone has testified as an expert witness to the Manitoba Board of Adjudication for the Manitoba Human Rights Commission, further solidifying his impact in the field. He currently sits on the Equity & Diversity Subcommittee of the Human Rights Committee of Council for the City of Winnipeg.
In his off time, find him foraging through Manitoba’s wilderness for culinary wild mushrooms and other edibles, hunting, at the gym, renovating, baking, hosting ‘think-tank exercise’ parties, parenting his three dogs and spending quality time with his partner of 20 years while enjoying Winnipeg’s arts and culture scene.
