Dr. Reece Malone

Sex Therapist & Sexologist Specializing in Desire, Intimacy, Sexual Functioning & Erotic Confidence

Dr. Reece Malone is an award-winning and internationally distinguished sexologist and sex therapist who helps individuals and relationships restore desire, deepen intimacy, and feel more confident and capable in their romantic and erotic lives.

Widely known for his ability to bridge clinical expertise with nuanced real-world application, Dr. Malone works with diverse clients navigating concerns such as low or mismatched desire, sexual worries, sexual functioning / “performance” anxiety, disconnection, and sexual dissatisfaction—as well as those who simply want more – more pleasure, more connection, and a more expansive and satisfying erotic life.

His approach moves beyond symptom management. Collaboratively with clients, he focuses on:

  • Sexual literacy and helping clients holistically and better understand the roots of the problem

  • Rebuilding a responsive and sustainable relationship

  • Reducing pressure, overthinking, and performance-based patterns

  • Strengthening emotional and erotic intimacy

  • Cultivating confidence, presence, and pleasure in intimate and sexual experiences

At the core of his work is a belief that people are not broken—rather, they are often operating within patterns shaped by early experiences, cultural messaging, and relational dynamics that can be understood, shifted, and transformed.

Dr. Malone holds a Master of Public Health and a Doctorate in Human Sexuality, with advanced clinical training and certification in individual and relational sex therapy, and medical sex therapy. He is a certified sexuality educator and supervisor through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) and has achieved Diplomate status with the American Board of Sexologists—distinctions that reflect years of commitment to excellence, innovation, and leadership in the field.

His therapeutic work is grounded in equity, inclusion, and respect, creating a space where individuals and relationships are deeply understood and supported. His approach is trauma-informed, evidence-based, and sharply attuned to the complexity of identity, culture, and lived experience.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Malone is a speaker, trainer, author, editor, and public health and education policy analyst. He has contributed his expertise to leading organizations including the World Health Organization, Pan American Health Organization, Canadian Human Rights Commission, Public Health Agency of Canada, The Government of Manitoba, Sport Manitoba, Alberta Children’s Hospital, and the District of Columbia Department of Health.

A sought-after voice on contemporary sexuality, he has been featured on national media outlets such as CBC and Global News, and his work has appeared in publications including Men’s Journal, Family Therapy Magazine, and Canadian School Counsellor. His insights have also been featured on platforms such as Savage Love, Health.com, and Playboy Magazine.

Dr. Malone’s influence extends into academia, where he has served as faculty or guest faculty at institutions including Antioch University Seattle, Widener University’s Center for Human Sexuality Studies, University of Guelph, and the University of Manitoba across multiple health and education faculties. He is currently an adjunct professor at the California Institute for Integral Studies, where he trains emerging sex therapists and educators in clinical skills and interventions.

He is also the co-founder of the Canadian Association of Sexuality Professionals, Canada’s national organization advancing professional standards and ethical, evidence-informed practice in sexuality education and therapy.

As a scholar, Dr. Malone is committed to advancing the field through intersectional and trauma-informed work. He is the co-editor of An Intersectional Approach to Sex Therapy: Centering the Lives of Indigenous, Racialized, and People of Color (Routledge, 2023), and Fundamental Concepts and Critical Developments in Sex Education (Routledge, 2025), which received the prestigious 2026 Sex Ed Impact Award from Planned Parenthood and the Center for Sex Education (Morristown, NJ, USA).

His research contributions have been recognized with awards from the George and Fay Yee Centre for Healthcare Innovation, as well as funding from the Manitoba Medical Services Foundation for his work examining healthcare barriers and mental health outcomes among gender-diverse populations. On April 16, 2026 he and research colleagues, led by Dr. Robin Westmacott, won the Department of Clinical Health Psychology Dr. Lesley Graff Paper of the Year Award demonstrating “exceptional scientific rigor, original and innovative inquiry, and substantial impact and significance within the field of psychology.”

A qualified expert in trans and non-binary adult health, Dr. Malone has served as an expert witness for the Manitoba Human Rights Commission. He currently sits on the Equity & Diversity Subcommittee of the Human Rights Committee of Council for the City of Winnipeg.

Outside of his professional work, Reece can often be found foraging in Manitoba’s wilderness, tending his berry orchid and garden boxes, house renovating, spending time at the gym, baking, hosting lively gatherings, and enjoying the arts and culture scene with his life partner of over 20 years—alongside their two dogs.
