We understand that at times, or for some professionals (politicians, professional athletes, CEOs, celebrities, etc.), a heightened level of privacy is necessary to feel safe and secure. Anyone may request a higher level of privacy and we will make sure that you feel confident that your privacy is honored and protected – including sessions outside the office or outside official office hours.
Some clients know immediately what approach works best for them while others are unsure. The terms therapy and counselling are often used interchangeably. Therapy acknowledges the past and helps to identify how our histories play a role in our current patterns and unresolved pain. If your goals include having a deeper understanding of the issues, a need to acknowledge and process feelings and emotions, or help to work through a difficult situation, therapy can be beneficial.
Coaching is a now and future minded practice that identifies risk and vulnerabilities, what is currently working well and with a focus on achievable goals. Common issues appropriate for coaching include learning a sexual or relationship skill, enhancing pleasure, being more present and in the moment and curiosities about shifting a relationship configuration.
Research indicates that a positive relationship between the client and clinician impacts therapy. Your therapeutic experience matters. You are welcome to contact us for an initial 15-minute phone consultation to help determine whether the service is the right fit. It’s also the ethical responsibility of the clinician to be upfront whether their approach may not be a match with a potential client.
The number of sessions depend on the issue to be resolved, your willingness and motivation for change, your feelings about addressing difficult subject matters, how emotionally ‘locked’ you may be, and other issues that may be beyond your control ex. physical and mental health, inability to schedule or attend timely follow-up sessions, inability to do suggested home activities, etc.
You and your clinician will discuss and track progress, and determine whether a different approach may be necessary. Clients may cease sessions at anytime.
While some doctors refer their patients to us for consultation or treatment, a doctor’s referral is not required. Individuals are welcome to contact us to book a session.
